- How did you hear about CrossFit?
In 2006 a member of the Fire Department introduced me to CrossFit. I had been a life long athlete in various sports & I loved the idea that CrossFit could improve my core strength, ROM, & mobility. I’ve had so many prior injuries from the wear and tear of the almost 3 decades in the fire service that I thought my best years were behind me. CrossFit has been a total blessing to my overall health, fitness & way of life.
- What is your favorite WOD?
I love all of the constantly varied movements. Early in CrossFit I really excelled at the body weight wods now I’m starting to love the Olympic lifts. If I had to pick a favorite I would have to say “Diane” or “Annie” because they’re short, sweet & intense!!
- Favorite exercise or lift?
I’d have to say Deadlifts & Squat Cleans. I injured my back over 20 years ago on duty that resulted in three bulged discs. My Doctor said I would never lift weights again, Ha ha, was he ever wrong!
- What stations would we find on your Pandora?
I’m on Pandora all the time, I like old school hip hop & plain old rock n roll. Anything fast & loud gets me going, plus I get lost in the WOD & go to my happy place, that’s when I go mental!
- What do you like to do besides CrossFit?
My family is precious to me so anytime we can hang out, go to dinner or the movies, I’m a happy camper. I’m a believer so my quiet time with the LORD is so important to me, I gain perspective here.
Accolades: I have been an athlete for over 45 years. I’m a three time top ten finisher at the 2014, 2015 & 2016 Crossfit Games & 3rd fittest in the world Masters 55-59 in 2014. A 26 year retired Fire Captain with the City Of West Covina Fire Department. Firefighter EMT, CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, Crossfit Advanced Olympic lifting & CrossFit Mobility, Competitor coach & personal trainer.
